Transportation
Kensington/Cedar Cottage has several of the city's busiest streets and major transit routes, meaning busses are plentiful. There is also a Skytrain that takes you either west towards downtown Vancouver or east towards either Surrey or Coquitlam.

Trout Lake Farmers Markets
What makes it so special? First, it's one of the Lower Mainland's biggest markets, which means lots of things to see, buy, and sample. There are multiple fresh fruit and vegetable vendors, folk selling baked goods, artisans selling local crafts, and people selling homemade preserves, among other items. There can be over 70 vendors and a couple of thousand shoppers on a busy day in the summer.
Parks and Recreation
With 11 parks, a community centre with a pool, a multipurpose sports facility, outdoor tennis courts, ultimate frisbee, an off-leash dog park, and many other sporting facilities, Kensington provides something for everyone, with most of these activities having little to no cost.
The Kensington & Cedar Cottage Housing Market
Most of the housing in Kensington/Cedar Cottage consists of single-family homes built in two stages – the first being pre-1946 and the second during a resurgent interest in the neighbourhood between 1981 and 1990. The uptick in new construction during this era was primarily due to the influx of middle-class families, who quickly realized the benefits of being close to the downtown core while still maintaining a suburban neighbourhood environment that catered to its residents. More recently, there has been an upswing in the construction of multi-unit buildings – both low-rise and mid-rise – as well as townhouse developments. There are parts of this neighbourhood that are quieter than others, but this area can be noisy as there are several busy roads that cut right through this area, and they carry traffic from not only Vancouver but Burnaby and beyond as well.
